  6. The X-Win32 files have been pkzipped.  They are self-extracting.
  7.  
  8. 1. Place xdemo32.exe in C:\xwin32 on the pc.  Then type:
  9.  
  10.     xdemo32 -d
  11.  
  12. 2. Once you have self-extracted the files, copy:
  13.  
  14.     vbrun300.dll    to    \windows
  15.     xwin32.ini    to    \windows
  16.  
  17. 3. Create a new Windows program items for:
  18.  
  19.     xwin32.exe    X-Win32
  20.             c:\xwin32\xwin32.exe
  21.             c:\xwin32
  22.  
  23.     xutil.exe    X-Utility
  24.             c:\xwin32\xutil.exe
  25.             c:\xwin32

  34. Sessions are created and edited using X-Util.
  35.  
  36. Sessions are started by clicking on the X-Win32 icon to get
  37. a pop-up menu - then selecting Sessions - then the desired
  38. session.

  40. This version is shipped with .fon files, but does support
  41. .pcf files.  If you have .bdf files, they can be converted
  42. into .fon or .pcf files.  Fonts with greater than 256
  43. characters will have to be converted into .pcf fonts.

  45. Known Problems
  46. --------------
  47. The bdftofon font compiler is still flaky.  It seems to
  48. work better under NT than with Win32s.  Fixed fonts seem
  49. to compile pretty well, but variable width fonts may not
  50. be correct.  The bdftopcf font compiler seems stable and
  51. produces correct fonts.  They are not as fast, but right.
